Welcome to the HTCTU Alternate Media eXchange (AMX) database.
The AMX Database provides California community colleges and other higher education
institutions a forum for identifying book materials created in alternate
formats (e.g., braille, e-text, DAISY, etc.) for use by student's with
verified print disabilities. Additionally, the AMX Database provides a
resource for managing and producing captioned videos for students who are
deaf or hard-of-hearing.
The intent of the AMX Database is to support
cooperative production and use of materials produced for the benefit of
students with disabilities. Participation in the AMX Database is based on
reciprocity - educational institutions must agree to the "terms of use"
before using the system. The AMX Database is available to the California
Community Colleges and other institutions of higher education within the
United States.
The AMX Database is a resource provided and maintained by the High Tech
Center Training Unit for the California Community Colleges. The High Tech
Center Training Unit is a training and support facility for California
community college faculty and staff wishing to acquire and improve skills
related to assistive computer technology, alternate media creation, an Web
accessibility.
The High Tech Center Training Unit is a grant-funded resource provided
through the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office. The HTCTU
provides assistance and support to 114 California community colleges and
